Question Can I burn the RECUBE code to the NANO prior to being installed in the circuit or will it choke? When it comes to coding and F/W, I am lost! Please know that I come from the mechanical world with a good working knowledge of discrete electronic components. I have not committed the NANO to the circuit by soldering the final pins. I have the circuit made, and I have the NANO. I was finally able to upload a basic program so the communications are there and the NANO is functional and has a boot loader. I finally plugged in the NANO and was able to communicate with the Arduino app to make sure things were communicating. The ABS does have warping issues even with the heated bed. It’s good for someone that just wants to reliably print things without babysitting the printer. Simplify guys? Guessing you have some chops here. The 3DSystems Cubify Cube is a solid little printer. This is a good sample part to start out with for multi color printing. It takes especially long if you have multiple colors per layer, versus the traffic cone below were the colors are on top of each other and not within the same print layers. I'm running V1.08 and am willing to guinea pig my own printer. Multi color parts take long to print because it has to swap between print jets. Also having a copy of ANY stable firmware would help us "exit the loop" of proprietary updates that could break our hack. With prints 2.5 times larger than any other desktop prosumer and hobbyist printer (11.2 x 10.6 x 9.06 or 285.4mm x 270.4mm x 230mm) with ultra high-resolution settings of 70-micron thin print layers, professional quality printing has never been so large or easy with the Cubify. If we can track down a copy of firmware V1.03 or earlier, we can make the printer run bulk filament by changing materials in the header! Anything after that seems to calculate filament usage from the stepper or some such nonsense. The Cubify CubePro features the largest-in-class build platform with ultra high-resolution. Note that the header information in there IS required. Unfortunately, my Simplicit圓D file causes a filament error, despite the inits being totally identical. BFB from the CubePro software, and one I built by adding some init stuff to a Simplicit圓D output.

A bunch of folks cracked the CubeX printer, which was the predecessor to CubePro. This has been reverse engineered and a handy utility called CodeX is available to convert to/from. CubePro requires a proprietary binary with extension. Simplicit圓D already supports BFB's 3D Touch printer, so that might be a good place to start.Ģ.

I bought a license JUST because I believe it can be done. HOWEVER, this would be possibly the best printing machine under $20K if we can JUST use Simplif圓D.
It's absolutely a deal breaker for a "prosumer" machine that is used for engineering parts that tend to be all uniform, thin walls - the resulting parts have very little rigidity. It will simply print parallel shells and refuses to crosslink. Specifically, the slicing engine.Īll other issues aside (and there are a few, for sure), the slicing engine that they use will not, under any circumstances, fill a thin vertical wall. I seriously believe that this machine has the potential to rival Stratasys build quality.Įxcept for one fatal flaw: their super, super crappy software. For the price/performance I'm even okay being locked into their exorbitantly priced cartridges. Simply put, the CubePro is a wonderful machine - beautiful, high build quality, rigid, large build volume, and heated chamber(!!!). I'm the disappointed and frustrated owner of a brand-new CubePro Duo, and I'm here to make it better.
